KAREN + JOHN | MICHIGAN

Things didn't go as planned.  My sister, her fiancé, and I drove up to Michigan in a state of excitement, ready to get perfect lakeside pictures.  We relaxed on the rooftop, had some wine and appetizers, the weather seemed to be perfect.  But when we walked back downstairs and went outside, it was a complete downpour.  No end in sight.  it seemed we were doomed.  We decided to settle in, get a hotel room, and take some photos at sunrise.

Then it seemed almost as our moods settled, so did the rain.  A hazy sky opened up and the rain was a light drizzle.  It was romantic, and moody, and gorgeous.  We got lucky.  And we still had sunrise ahead of us!

When we got up the next morning, surprisingly alert, and ready to go.  It was beautiful.  The sun was soft, we had a picnic on the beach, and it was a perfect Michigan day.  The beach we went to was actually the spot where John proposed to Karen.  It ended with tears and hugs and it was perfect.

Karen, I love you, you're the best sister for me.  And Johnny, I have never had one ounce of hesitation about you, you're meant to be with Karen, and I can't wait for you to be my brother.

There are tiny little miracles in the form of photoshoots.  I hope that I get all of them and that they're as wonderful as this one was.  Then again, it doesn't get much better than your baby sister getting married.

A special thank you to my friend, Shanon for giving us that gorgeous king protea.  Clearly, it was perfect...and now I'm obsessed.
